“A fair examination system is a responsibility tied to good governance and public trust” — Chairman Dr Prashant Kumar
Emphasis on AI, biometrics and GPS tracking to make the exam system secure and transparent
Lucknow: India’s 80th Independence Day was celebrated at the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, Prayagraj, in the traditional manner, with simplicity and enthusiasm. The programme opened with the collective singing of the national song, after which Commission Chairman Dr Prashant Kumar, former Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, hoisted the national flag. Following the flag hoisting, all officers and staff present joined in singing the national anthem together.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Dr Prashant Kumar said a fair and transparent examination system is not merely a matter of selecting candidates but an important responsibility linked to good governance and public trust. Providing every candidate equal opportunity based on their talent, merit and hard work, he said, remains among the Commission’s top priorities. He added that the sanctity and credibility of an examination are not confined to the security of question papers alone — the entire process, from the preparation of question papers to their printing, transportation and safe storage, arrangements at examination centres, verification of candidates, monitoring, and the preparation of results, must be made secure, fair and transparent.

The Chairman said the Commission is placing special emphasis on modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based monitoring, biometric verification, CCTV surveillance, GPS-based transport arrangements, barcode-based tracking, and an integrated command-and-control system to make the examination process more secure, transparent and reliable. He noted that technology can only prove effective and meaningful when it is backed by honest implementation, clear accountability and strong administrative will. The Commission’s aim, he said, is not merely a technology-enabled examination system but one that is both technology-enabled and accountability-driven, ensuring transparency and answerability at every level.

He reiterated the resolve to keep candidates’ trust and respect for merit at the centre of every decision. He said a robust system would be developed to ensure fairness, transparency and equal opportunity in recruitment and selection processes — one that future generations can take pride in and trust. Members of the Commission, the Secretary, and all officers and staff were present at the ceremony.
